There is a whole series of "Foxfire" books - some interesting stuff in a lot of them

Not only are they interesting books the whole foxfire project was inspirational. started by a school teacher who sent kids out into their community to listen to and record the stuff that the old folk knew. I am sure there were very many benefits to all concerned as well as creating a fantastic archive.
