Heeeey folks
A few of you may remember my three previous attempts at a rehandle job of the Mora Clipper  First one was too fat and a bit unpleasant looking, second was too thin and a bit unpleasant looking, third one I absolutely loved. The third one had very little wood in front of and behind the tang, so without pins it just didn't work out. Soooo I've taken the handle shape of #3 and made a new one, with pins (i used two nails...) and the blade glued in with epoxy - I left a layer of clear epoxy in place of a bolster to prevent moisture getting in through that end. As I always do, I gave the handle a coat of boiled linseed oil and then attacked it with a blowtorch :D This caused the handle to warp a bit - I filled the gaps with epoxy and after it cured, I sanded it down and let the handle soak in boiled linseed oil overnight - it has a lovely satin sheen now :D

Sorry for the bad pictures, not much daylight as you can see :p

The sheath is really just something to make do until I buy some leather... butchered from another sheath, with strips of leather from a guitar strap epoxied and (badly) stitched in place for horizontal carry - when I make the new one, I'll make the straps farther apart and make the sheath hang a bit lower for easier access to that pocket!

Comments? :D

Peace!

Looks like a really useful user, maybe take some material of the back to make lighter?

Id be happy to use that no problem

Cheers folks :D

Shinken - I was considering that, though it's really pretty light as it is and I'm pretty fond of the shape (makes it harder to slip out of my hand, which is a plus seeing as I hate lanyards ;)) - I wish I knew what the wood was! It takes on a lovely colour after being oiled.

climberslacker - cheers :D To be honest, I didn't mean to blowtorch that much, it just sorta happened! The last one had a pattern which looked pretty cool with the selective blowtorching, but I decided that it was too much effort for a working knife.

Really comfortable for carving :D

Cheers guys :D I've never tried blowtorching leather, but I'll give it a go when I get some leather for the new sheath - might try and make it match the look of the handle :D
