Hello, am looking to spend a few nights away in the Forest of Dean - I've spent a bit of time there before, but was wondering if anyone here can recommend decent, out of the way spots to serve as a basecamp. Lots of trees and a water source are a must. Any suggestions?

I suggest you look at Bing maps and have a proper browse ...
The forest itself is a huge area , lots of spots well out of the way...
As for freshwater you'll have to do a bit of searching on the map.
Ordenance Survey maps are great for that purpose , and if you can't afford one , use bing search engine maps and print off the area you're interested, as bing maps uses OS . And you can zoom right in or out before printing..👍
