Thanks mate!

Nice article, best to pick the laplander i recon...
I really love the Opinel looks though.

Perhaps i buy them both and keep the Opi just for my knife collection, small collection, but nice.
Or as we say in dutch 'klein maar fijn'.

I never found any use for my G&B (you look really funny in the subway, on your way to the park)
so the laplander will do much better i think.

Cheers and awra best.

looking at the price / quality ratio i would take the bacho. That why i got him... www.extrasurvival.nl sells them for € 25. you get good service from this guy, but a bit slow. i find the bacho quite big already, but than again i never tryed a bigger one...

btw nice to see another dutchie here !

I have both the Laplander and the Opinel. The Laplander is a much higher quality tool in my opinion (or should I say opinelion?). However, I often carry the opinel as it is much smaller and I can easily fit it in a pocket. It also makes a smoother cut, so if i'm using it for woodworking I sometimes use it.

Thanks for the tips and the quick reactions. Really helped.
I'm a carpenter myself in daily live. I got some time to spare, so
want to pick up on woodcarving etc.
Sounds like the Opi comes in handy for different tasks.
I'll get them both then.

Cheers and mazzel for the dutchies.

Hello before any purchase, go to your local hardware and look there for BAHCO saw.
I took one Bahco holding saw same as Laplander(made by Bahco) weight, dimensions, cutting power etc saw but orange and black handle and bare blade no black finish for 18.9 eu.
I prefer to Laplander becouse cheaper and easier to find in wood orange color.
Enjoy

i have seen the orange one, but that one was labed with sandvik ( same company now ). it cost € 30 at provak ( not sure wheather it is a chain or just a local shop ). Haven't seen them for awile though...

i use the orange xt range for work and plesure they are fine
saws nice and lite and they lock open and closed :-D

Dutchman,

I don't know when the supermarket called "Aldi" will be having foldable saws again, but the ones I bought cost less then 5 Euro's I even think less then 4 Euro and they have a locking blade (closed as well as open) soft rubber padding on the grip and a saw that is scarry sharp and really bites easily into wood.
I tested one this summer when I was remoddeling my garden and had to take a 7 meter "cypres" down, and a lot of other bushes/trees with branches up to 3.5" diameter.
The folding saw worked great, and after all the work was still scarry sharp. Of course my GB SFA really was the star, that axe cut like a laser :-D

Want a spare blade, well just buy a second one for 4 Euro's that was just the ebst thing to do.

The grip is nicely green colored and the whole thing carries the German TUV testmark.

Great saw, cheap price.

Best Scouting wishes from Holland,

Bagheera

PC2K,

No clue, Aldi sells certain products when there is a market for, so the best bet will be early spring or autumn as you can then prune trees.

When they are availably I will invest in at least 5 of them or perhaps a even 10 :-P they make very nice presents for outdoor oriented friends and even gardening kind of friends ;)

Cheers,

Bagheera

Now I'm even more confused witch one to buy :-?

But I must say this forum really rocks!
Thanks for all the great tips. I'll check each and everyone out.

Gracias amigos :-D
