Morning folks I've just came back from picking a family member up as she doesn't drive and I spotted a Tesco delivery van stuck in about 2ft of water which had been there 2 days apparently so somebody didn't do there research about the local flooding, And there are offer supermarkets online just incase I get told off.
And about a mile down the road it had been closed off as a pretty big sink hole had well (sunk) / appeared.
Anyone else seen or experienced problem's with the weather?.

We have been lucky so far around here but there is bad flooding not far away in Tenbury. Some of the news pictures and videos are horrendous.
I look at the brook across the fields and it’s full. I know that will flow into the Severn and cause problems for someone. The water meadows are doing a good job.

Good luck folks.

We've had a lot of localised flooding. Our house is fine but the streams further down the road burst their banks and flooded the road and houses. It only lasts an hour or two but does a lot of damage.

Somewhat coincidentally, a week before I was speaking to one of our council's flood managers and was very disappointed with their general lack of interest in the risks in the area. Happy to do pointless exercises but not tackle the real risks.

On that note I think at the same time the council rebranded a department with the words climate change they cut back on meaningful work to reduce flooding!

Sorry I forgot to mention that I'm in the Forest of Dean and Sadly my sister works in Tewksbury and that place is like a pond, well not sad for her I suppose.

I often think of Tewksbury when I see the Severn high. The water in our river (Tern) doesn’t flow into the Avon but when the Severn is high it backs up the Avon.

Am I right that the old town of Tewksbury and around the Abby seems to be above the flood. Like so many recent developments it’s the new stuff that’s vulnerable.

I am forced to miss going into work site today as the train line to work was not running until too late to make the train this morning. They opened the line at 04:10 this morning. That line often gets cancelled trains at the best of times and earlier this year it was shut down for a sinkhole for a couple of months or so. I am not going to sit on a replacement bus for two hours neither. So it is WFH today.

The A road to my work also had issues before the flood at times. With poor train services round here and a larger manufacturer at the end of the line with a lot of employees I feel it a bit of poor planning to allow such a service to operate without sorting out the manning issues causing in most of the time. FLooding only adds to the already poor service.

Sorry to go off topic. But this train line and the one going further around the coast always seem to get flooded or in one stretch washed away by the high tidal surge. My employer is not the only big employer with a lot of workers using the line. It has enough use to warrant the investment to correct the issues it has even with flooding issues.

Away for the annual family gathering in the Bath, Bristol and Longleat. Longleat booked for Sat but closed due to some geezer called Bert. So popped off to see Santa on the Avon steam Train instead. Result, he only bloody remembered me ! Sunday luch for 16 at the Hunters Inn was great but unable to access our lodge on our return. We had our 3yr old and 7yr old grandkids on board, scared and crying because of the flood water and the Adults were being a bit anxious and flappy. Pulled the plug ( unfortunately not literally) and went into town and booked a travelodge/ premier/ cant remember for the night and blagged it was an 'adventure '. Waters subsided by 0800 so all good, as was the Breakfast. Drove back home on Monday in beautiful sunshine and clear roads, happy days.

While the River Seven around here does flood a lot of property there are also large expanses of water meadow. Huge acreages of grazing become lakes which then release water slowly. I can’t blame Sabrena if she uses the Shrewsbury car parks the same way!

People have always built by rivers. I know many places with houses actually on the side of rivers thar are 100, 200, 300 years old or older.
