Just ordered a couple of 3.5mm belt blanks plus buckles from eBay, plus a set of pricking irons. Total cost under £28. Admittedly I already have the needles and the thread, plus the tool for chamfering the edges/grooving the stitch line, but I bet I could have bought all of those and still saved money on buying a single Fjallraven leather belt

Belt #1 finished - for the belt and buckle it was £13.04 delivered. I've used a few feet of thread (linen, I think) and two rivets. Material cost well under £14. Took me a couple of hours admittedly, but it was good fun and I'd say it's a better quality product than the Fjallraven belt that started this thread.

I would pass on that belt take a look at this one

It is a lot thicker, stronger, cheaper and make a great strop

Waxed linen and 2 sizes ( many other heavy threads would sub as well.)

I do actually have a Fjällräven equipment belt, but I brought it incredibly cheap in Sweden as it had been scratched while on display, I would not have paid full price for one.

It's a nice belt, and on the plus side it being from Fjällräven you know that it's going to have been sourced ethically and made well. On the negative side, the width of 60mm rather than the more standard 38mm means that many things you'll want to mount will need to be made custom - plus there is the price, if you don't get a discount.
