Hi all,

I could do with a new watch strap as the bracelet I currently have has stretched a bit in the links and flaps about on my wrist a bit too much. I had been thinking about some kind of rubber divers strap, but not sure what it might look like...any ideas more than welcome!

Watch is a Seiko automatic divers watch (skx009k2) as piccy...

Thanks!

How bad is the stretch on the strap?

I am looking for a steel one if you come accross one? or would give you some dough for yours? I may be able to get the pins replaced.

Rubber ones available here.....

I use velcro on webbing.
Select the length of webbing to fit around your wrist. Cut a length of Velcro to the same length. Sew the "fur" of the velcro to one side of the webbing. Place the "hooks" on one end of the fur/webbing so that you have a square shaped overlap. Sew it into place.
Thread the "hooks" through the bails of the watch and the job is done!
Several commercial watch bands use this system but cost a fortune....

The stretch has been fixed before by closing the stretched links together with some needle nose pliers but keeps happening over time. If you catch the watch on anything then they will stretch there and then really....

I've used velcro straps before (Animal strap and a Sekonda watch) bet don't really get along with them.

I've seen some divers watches with the proper rubber divers straps and like the look of them, but they do seem to have been designed with that in mind (ie colour schemes etc). Not sure how it'd look with one, or possible a NATO style strap.

How about this: http://funditor.110mb.com/wiki/index.php/Cobra_stitch_bracelet

PS I so envy you. This is the one watch I really really want to have!

I really do like those, not sure mine woudl come out looking so neat if I did it though!

The watch was a wedding pressie from the Mrs so I can't really change watches now (not that I'd want to unless I got an Omega Seamaster or a Rolex submariner though)!

I liek the look of the NATO G10 here:

The Seiko on there looks with witht his strap IMO, but it's black and mine isn't!

Also this rubber divers strap:

I might give that paracord one a go over xmas though too!

Is it not possible just to take out a link or two, thereby shortening the strap enough?

I've moved the deployment clasp links back and forwards but even when that's st correctly the joints holding each section of strap together can still stretch, then you have to move the bars all over again.

I'll try to get a pic to explain the problem

Thanks for the link - he has 22mm ones available - could be swayed!

The pins are all fine, it's just the 2 metal piceces linking each link to one another that stetch a little near the watch itself. If I find any other metal ones I'll let you know, not sure SWMBO woudl be happy if I got rid of this one! ;-)
