I was about to order some kit form Gearzone but after ringing them they cannot get it utnil January, The outdoor shop dont do it anyway. so, grrrrr I have come back to Field and Trek I last used this many moons ago before they were swallowed up by Sports Direct. I have heard some nightmare stories and some good reports. I know a lot of folks on here may have used them recently are they any good to deal with? Any feedback welcome .

cheers for now

Not used them myself for donkeys either Andy, I used to spend serious money with them in the early nineties/ Their catalogue used to be like reading a proper book, full of loads of info and not just product related. Stuff like how to pack your rucksack properly and storing your gear etc.

I didn't know they'd been taken over. When I have checked in more recently they were always at the top end for their prices unless the sales were on.

For the past few years I've used their London stores, mainly the Piccadilly branch and am particularly impressed with the specialist knowledge, and the personable and professional attitude of the staff there.

Particularly impressive is the fact that the staff are completely honest about a product's suitability for the customers intended use, advising against purchase if the item is unsuitable, and suggesting something more appropriate, even if the Company did not stock that item!

I've also been delighted at the savings I made when buying from them, in many cases not only were they the lowest price store, but their prices beat anything the web had to offer.

Originally a family business, had not Sports Direct bought the Company, F&T would have become insolvent, and whilst the catalogue was indeed good (I have a new condition last issue) and offered helpful advice, the Company needed rescuing simply to survive.

As a customer I've only had good experiences with Field and Trek, and I quite like being able to shop till 11pm, in a real store, with real, knowledgeable, helpful people!

I've had no problems with F&T. Just searched, but I can't find any discount vouchers for them atm. Millets and Blacks seem to have a lot of 20% codes knocking about atm. There's a discount at Cotswold Outdoor for full members, and Go Outdoors have a price match policy.

Go on, I'm intrigued, what are you buying? :D

I ordered a load of on sale outdoor footwear a few months ago and had no problems and quick delivery.
Their sale prices always seemed good to me.
Happy trails...torc.

I bought some new boots from my local store last week, the guy I spoke to knew what he was talking about plus they were as cheap as anywhere online.

They've got some nice gear there its just a pity the boots cleaned me out for this month!

They had a shop in Ayr. They had inexperienced staff who never had a clue, they were there on the friday disapeared by the mondayPoor service and not missed. they owe me a bum bag which turned out to be a bum deal.
