You make it look so effortless!

How do you prep your wood for the knife?

I do everything by hand from start to finish and I am trying to keep it that way just for the story behind each piece.
 
Just tonight, making my supper, I wanted that little salt spoon for my pasta which goes well with lime chicken.
It's so nice and easy and slow to see these spoons fit the most important of all things =
Build your own food. Don't buy it.
 
Thanks, gents. Humdrum, I do it all with hand tools. I think it's easier and quicker to split off a piece of wood than to try getting a blank with some kind of power saw. Once I've split off a nice sized billet, I go to the adze and then the knife and finally the gouge. Here's a video of the adze work...
