Anyone else surprised to learn that all Fallknivens are actually made in Japan

"It's correct that all knives are made in Japan, the leather sheaths in Spain and the kydex sheaths in USA. The new zytel sheaths are made in Boden City, Sweden.

However, all design, test and development is made by me in Sweden. Our company is the sole owner of all tools and molds for making the knives and we're as well the only and leagal owners of all technical specifications, logotypes etc.

Not really, Japan have excellent manufacturing plants and are known for their good steel and knowledge in metalurgy.

If it was China then i would be surprised.

I was more surprised that they own all the tooling to make the knives. Spdyerco work with about 5different factories in seki and only make 12 of the models in the US

ehh... no. VG-10 is japanese steel.
I am suprised to hear about zytel sheaths, haven't heard it for fallkniven yet.

In gun mart in the Heinnie adverts (I think) they have been indicating that the Falkniven knives were made in Japan for ages so still surprised though.

I suppose it's a bit surprising given the F1 was designed by Swedes for the Swedish Army, and Fallkniven are purveyors to the Kind of Sweden, so I assumed it was a fully Swedish effort.

Blades are obviously made in Japan but I always thought the final assembly took place in Sweden.

Its like Volvo and SAAB being swedish cars. Most people know that both are just brands under Ford and GM and that only some models are assembled in Sweden but its still swedish cars. The JAS 39 Gripen is a swedish fighter but its under the BAE umbrella too.
