I have a couple of the para cord reel things with cutter, lighter holder and such. Are they a fad?

Nothing you can’t do with a home made winder of course.

Not in my opinion, I have one too. It´s a practical way to store and dispense rope without getting it tangled.

I use a laplander. A silky is too fragile in some of the situations I worked, and not a tool to hand over to inexperienced hands.

I'm still using laplanders I bought twenty years ago, and they still work. Surprisingly easy to straighten out and resharpen too.
Totally. I tried 'hand saws', both with chain and with the serrated wire, dumped them in the bin. Since I bought a Laplander, I never bought any other saw, other than 2 more Laplanders and several spare blades for them (never needed to replace one yet actually!). By a country mile, the best folding saw I've ever used, and all my mates now have the same ones. The Laplander is most certainly NOT a fad item!
