Hey folks,
Im looking to take my dog for his 1st camping trip soon to test him out. As such I dont want to travel to far just incase he doesnt like it. I'm based in leigh-on-sea/southend area and dont want to drive for more than an hour to an hour and a half. There must be a good place to hike and a quiet camp site would be nice

cheers

There a good site at the edge of Epping Forest. It's run by the council and allows dogs, according to this blurb.

I've stayed there a couple of times and it's really good. Plenty of room and literally on the edge of the forest. It can get a bit crowded at weekends in summer though.

One thing, as I remember, you have to negotiate a bit of red tape beforehand so I advise ringing them in advance.
