Normally if hotmail detect your account has been hacked they will start saving your messages. when you get back in they are usually restored to your deleted items

Did you not set up a secondary email address for them to email things to when this sort of thing happens when you opened the account originally?

i have sent microsoft another email, but they said it could take 24 hours to sort this, 24 hours with someone else in my account, there will be nothing left.

Not necessarily... the account may have been totally locked to all users once the problem was highlighted to them

Make a note of the email address that your recovery address has been changed to Lee. When I've helped clients restore their Hotmail accounts before there's been an option to have the code delivered to a mobile via SMS - is that option not available to you?

I don't want to hijack the thread but can someone provide a link to show what you should do to help avoid the difficulties that Lee is having - so far as I know I haven't got another e-mail address or any of the other things people are referring to

Elines - it's pretty simple.

1./ Log into your Hotmail / Live! / Outlook account.
2./ In the top right hand corner, click your username
3./ Click Account Settings (a new tab will open at this point)
4./ Below where it says 'Account summary' there is another section 'Password and security info' click 'Edit security info'

Hope that helps!
