Found myself watching Sleuth on Netflix , terrible film and not the one I was thinking -( I'm sure there was another Murder Mystery film at the same time with a duplicated room that went up and down...)

It got me thinking about Detectives - I'm partial to Sherlock Holmes and Columbo - the latter being the only Detective show to have how the crime occurs at the start of the show then sort of shows a reversed engineer lesson in deductive reasoning.

But what other great Detectives are there??

Poirot
Miss Marple
Even Jonathan Creek..

Montalbano. Kind of a Sicilian Bergerac type bloke.
There's some pretty decent foreign detective stuff on Chanel 4 as well.
R. Daneel Olivaw in Caves of Steel by Isaac Asimov.
Takishi Kovacs from Altered Carbon by Richard K Morgan.

Altered Carbon was good..

Absolutely you can’t beat Montalbano. It has the best pathologist, Pasquano, you’ll ever see on TV and I’m a BIG Emilia Fox fan.

I didn’t think anyone could beat Rupert Davies’ Maigret but I have to admit that Rowan Atkinson has done the best job of it.

Joan Hickson as Miss Marple is also, for me, definitive.

Now, can anyone advise me. I have never seen an episode of Endevour. Those of you who watched it over the years:
Did they slowly develop Endeavour Morse into the patronising, self centric, self applauding and simply rude individual that was Morse or is that something that happened between Endeavour and Morse.

Life... I'd imagine.
