I'm after an old issue basha, one which is green and labelled -

Shelter Individual
(Lightweight Sleeping Equipment)
A.I.L. 1985
J1 8465-99-766-4581
CT2A/2517

Any help appreciated!

I found this;

Or a possible alternative;

Personally I'd go for a DD 3X3 Lightweight

Thanks, unfortunately it's not so much an operation or efficiency thing as just requiring two sets of kit to match exactly. Mind you, over a tenner for a kippex? Wow!

An excellent bit of kit - pre-dated the DPM basha (the design of which continues with the current MTP version), and was issued at the same time as the 58patt poncho to specialist units, and for jungle use. I was happily issued one by accident back in the day when all my mates got 58ponchos!

these are they:

and here is one for sale:

A well assorted shop!

They even sell the NI patrol pack that's sold out everywhere else.

Silvermans is an absolute classic shop - and were knocking out better than issue kit to squaddies in the days before there were loads of shops doing similar. Perhaps cometing with the likes of Survival Aids back in the day. To be honest, these days they do have some interesting kit still (and they seem to commission some kit to be made up to their specs) but in general it is possible to find most of what they sell significantly cheaper elsewhere.

I have one of their WW2 repro windproof smocks (and have had it for years) (https://www.silvermans.co.uk/products/copy-sas-1940-smock?variant=39325375529014)- I slightly modifies mine by letting down the hem to make it a touch longer, and adding in a zip at the neck. And I love it. Still practical, unusual, and with a nice retro feel.

I generally avoid them because they're pricey. But the last time I bought boots, they were the only UK dealer I could find Ft. Lewis in and I recently bought a wooly-pully from them in a fit of nostalgia. Basha is on the way!
