Edible Dog Fungus

Just a thought as my dog has been muching some mushrooms from the back garden, he was eating them yesterday and now has a bad belly...........

my questions is, would he just know whats safe to eat or is he just eating it even if it's bad for him???? he seems fine just the bad guts.......

sorry but no pic's the wife got rid of them this morning, they looked just like button mushroom but quite a dark brown on top and all over i think the gills where white/cream ish.....

any ideas or thoughts very welcome, im not much cop with plants fungus or trees.....

your dog has no idea what he can and can't eat, lots of people think that dogs know what's good to eat and what's not (SWMBLT being one of those people), but they really have no idea at all, most dogs will eat pretty much anything that they find interesting (mine particularly likes candles but turns his nose up at any kind of fruit like it's poison) i'd be tempted to visit a vet, but i'd probably leave it a day first TBH. i'm sure someone's going to come along and give you a more definate answer than i have, but i guess that with dogs it's similar to people, is he really old? really young? any other kind of health problems? if it's no to all of the above then he'll probably be ok, but i'd still be tempted to visit a vet.

Thats kind of what I thought Stu, I would not have even known if it was not for the fact he brought 1 in the kitchen and dropped it half chewed on the floor.....aaahhhhhhhh bless him.....he is 18 months and he loves apples when im over the orchard, he just wont stop eating them.....he has never eaten bonkers stuff before though, like mushrooms........

he seems ok and it could be somint else anyway........

it would be nice to get some other views though..........

PS also forgot to say he is a BIG dog at around 70kg so that should help....

you could try dropping martinK9 a PM, he's my "turn to" man for all things dog related, just don't let him near your dog, it'll sit looking longingly at him and completely ignore anything you do to try and get it's attention, it'd be impressive if it wasn't so embarressing!

at a guess i would say it was a brownish deceiver fungus, lots of them or similar things in the woods round here.

hi all, found some more today got some snaps then got rid quick sharp.....the woofer is fine and i believe the fungus is ok to eat TBH, had me worried for a bit though....here are the pic's....
