Early Ceps?

I was just out for my usual lunchtime stroll, and what should I find growing on a verge? A cep! (At least, I'm pretty sure it was a cep - definitely a boletus, the right size and colour, pleasant smell, no staining or bruising.)

Is it just me, or is it unusually early to be finding these? Anybody else finding out-of-season mushrooms?

Yes we found 3 different species that seemed out of season whilst walking the Jacks today. Im not sure of the names but I dont usually see them this time of year.

Yup pretty early.

I've just found a nice flush of oyster mushrooms growing out of my chopping block outside though - should be ready in a few days.

Who knows? It's not what I'd expect though...
