Dutch oven handles/biltong research

Not that I have a Dutch oven but I know plenty on here have and thought it might be of interest to some.
p.s.
Any info on making biltong if you have made it yourself, like tips etc. would be welcome,

Almost a good idea, only problem with this is the wood will burn when you put coles on top . Te spice mixes look great though

hehe, never thought of that one, probably because i havent used a dutch oven, arr well, or you could always take the handle off when in use, and put it back after flicking coals off? just a thought.

I had a blacksmith make me a simple metal rod incorporating a wrought iron handle with a small hook on the other end, to lift the dutch oven lid on and off when hot. When not in use the hook just hangs from the tripod. I do like the wooden one though, but could be tricky trying to put the pin in through the wood, so close to a hot lid and burning embers.
