While living in Australia I made extensive use of a cooking item that the Aussies refer to as a Camp oven. Other people refer to the same bit of kit as a Dutch oven. Whatever you prefer to call it this is a fantastic feature for a fixed camp, definately NOT for backpacking. It can be used to make bread, cakes, roast chickens.....the list is endless.
The one I had was made of cast iron, (although I have seen them made from aluminium). I believe it was a 10 quart model, but they make them in lots of sizes.
I would love to get my hands on one in the UK but despite extensive surfing I havn't managed to locate one yet. There are plenty on offer in other parts of the world, but I dont fancy selling a kidney to pay for the postage.
Anyone got any ideas. :?:
