Have recently rewatched David Lynch's Dune, and the tv versions of Dune and Children of Dune.

I saw that film as a yoof before having read the book then with enough time after to read the book myself.

Yes, the later books are not as good as the first! A real shame. Burned out eyes from nukes, if I remember it right?

I agree the books got more and more ridiculous as they went on. Even the first one seems dated now in some respects but there's no overstating the impact it had and future sci-fi it inspired.

I would say the first book is excellent and well worth a read. It blows most films away. Not so much the second.

I’ve never seen the filum or read the books, they were the in thing amongst the shall we say the less socially adept when I was at school. The filum from memory looked pretty exciting, don’t know much about it besides giant worms, desert and The Police front man Sting was in it.

The Jodorowsky one is good. The film about the film he didn't make.

I saw another recent version on DVD a while ago ... maybe the year before last .. brings out the essential misogynies of the story wery well.

Loved reading these years ago, all worth reading, but the first two are the best.
The Dune novels written by Frank's son Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson, aren't a patch on the originals.

Very good film. Long film. Doesn't seem long but is.

Excellent. That little guy can really act.
