Dough on a stick

As its bonfire night next week I am looking for something suitable for children (and probably the adults too!) to cook supervised around an open fire. I remember in scouts making dough on a stick over the fire which tasted great. Does anyone have a suitable receipe for this or any other ideas? many thanks :)

In its simplest form, it is flour and water.
Adding a pinch of salt makes it better and adding ingredients all the way to a full blown bannock will also work well depending on the skill, or otherwise, of the person holding the stick.
You can wrap it in a loose spiral so that you can break off pieces to eat, or wrap it tightly so it cooks to a cone - which can then be filled with butter and jam for a sticky sweet snack.

Here is a good basic recipe Aliwren;
TWISTED CAMPFIRE BREAD

Willow sticks are ideal for campfire cooking.

1 cup flour
1/8 teaspoon salt (optional)
Pinches of baking soda
1 tablespoon butter
Water

Mix all dry ingredients; blend in butter. Put some flour on your hands; pour in just enough water to make dough stiff. When dough is ready, twist around a washed and rinsed stick. Hold over hot coals, turning stick from time to time to cook evenly. Makes 2 servings.

Per serving: 263 calories, 6 grams protein, 7 grams fat, 44 grams carbohydrate, 220 milligrams sodium, 16 milligrams cholesterol.
Do soak the sticks to prevent them burning too easily and/or use green wood. Make sure they are not too thin or the dough will end up in the fire ;) and avoid any poisonous species like cherry laurel! willow, hazel with bark stripped to be posh. For kids I suggest the addition of a drizzle of golden syrup to the cooked twist will add to the whole smile inducing experience. Water down a bit to aid easy pouring :)
