My wife is crocheting a bag for our 5y old. Looking for a button I thought of contributing to her project by making one myself. Had a small piece of birch burl fling around the house for a while, left over from a vacuum pump experiment on stabilising wood, not exactly knowing what to do with it?
After splitting the piece in two I have been shaping the button roughly by rasping it and then fine tuned it with sand paper. Drilled a hole in it and finished the button with some boiled linseed oil for contrast.
Tadaaa...
Small chance that my son will not like it, but if so I am going to use it on a lanyard or on the cord of a stuff pack which I recently sewed.
Rgds,
Bas
