Seeing Dutch's excellent tarp hooks not so long ago sparked an idea-you guessed it, make my own.
I've got a couple of those keyring aluminium bottle openers and they look like they'd make great tarp hooks.
I was going to use the barrel to thread the tarp line through, but decided the metal was of insufficient thickness and used the thick part instead.
I started with this "red" opener.

Drilled a 4.5mm hole

Cut the spare metal off with a hacksaw, then filed to remove any sharp edges and finished with fine emery.

Hooked round a tree, works just like a hook should.

I don't know how much they weigh, but Its much less than the extra line needed for the knot. 1g is my best guess.
