Dholes arent canines, though

No they aren't (although there are some who will swear blind that they are) but they are very closely related to the dog (Canis Familiaris) in a similar way to the way a Fox (Vulpes vulpes) is but not quite as closely as the wolf (Canis Lupus) or the Coyote (Canis latrans).

I would term all of the above as "Dog family".

As it says Dholes are in danger of extinction, it's sad but not many people have even heard of them.
