I bought a pair of these bargain trousers from Decathlon a couple of weeks ago.

I've just been on a bushcrafty Scout camp weekend and I'm very pleased with the trousers. Comfortable, allow unrestricted movement, good pockets and feel hard wearing.

Fit wise, I actually have a 32" waist, but I typically buy 34" trousers with a generous fit to fit my legs and glutes. I needed to buy 36" waist in these trousers for the leg capcity and use an elasticated belt.

I have shortened the legs as they were too long for my 32" legs and I will take in the elasticated waist a little.

Where I currently live, in the French Alps, pretty close to Grenoble, Decathlon is unsurprisingly something of a religion. They call Grenoble the 'outdoor capital of the Alps/France' and it is practically impossible to get through a day without seeing people clad head to toe in a Decathlon brand.
The Solognac stuff is superb value, used a lot by the hunters around here, as well as naturalists and bushcrafters, and the value to quality ratio is superb. The sizing, as you noticed, is not always quite comprehensible, however, and I have ended up with a few pairs of trousers too small for my waist, or far too baggy. Trying them on is certainly the way, as is affecting a few alterations of your own, which is my favourite thing on the old Singer.
In short, they're great (and, here at least, they can be picked up even cheaper from Vinted, as other people find a new pair doesn't fit and then sell them for a few euros).

I like my decathlon trousers too good fit/cut for me and fairly simple design which is a plus in my book plus they are very reasonably priced. One observation is you need to try on several pairs of the size you want because the sizing QC can be a little off.
I also have a pair of premium brand trousers which were very expensive and can honestly say i prefer the decathlon trousers, the premium trousers are high quality but I dont like the fit as much and I don't like the pocket layout. The only improvements for the decathlon trousers would be zipped vents and an extra back pocket.

Yeah I’ve had a couple of different styles of Solognac trousers. Definitely best to try them on. Sizing seems inconsistent.

I wish more of them had zip cargo pockets on both legs. Otherswise perfect.
