I went for a wee winter walk with a friend yesterday out for a couple of hours to check out two water falls we know about.
Bit dark here it wont see any sun for another month or two. Snow and ice taking its toll.
Brightened up once out of Glen.
Bit hard going in the long reeds and snow. This is marsh in the summer.
And a short video.
And some old postcards of the falls from around 1900.
Trying to find a way across without getting to wet.
I crossed near to the big tree on the right hand side, the burn run be side the fence line.
Friend crossed further up than I did.
Where we are going.
But had a break first well it is Christmas.
Waterfall in winter. It was colder down next to.
Ice I but left the whisky at home.
Last look at the falls before heading for the next one.
Above the burn and tunnel is a railway line needs a bit of extra support.
Ice and snow taking there toll on the trees.
Small drainage tunnel.
Exit and water a bit deeper here.
Tree roots.
Burn.
Crossing to the other fall.
Other fall.
Tree tops on the way home.
First waterfall from across the railway.
Pic from my phone.
Had a great day out stopped in at a pub on the way home.
And a short video.
