It may be my pc screen, but that specimen looks a tad purple. It means, that should you pick it, you’ll find once picked and for a few days afterwards whatever you put it in, full of black dust (spores) Leave it until it is completely black and dry, before picking as the dust gets everywhere

Its best to leave it to do its reproductive thing first :eek: then pick it. If you tap it with your finger nail is should tell you if its dry enough to pick.

the purple ones are not so good for fire lighting as they are quite moist. leave it to spore and go back in a few months...... if there is one in the area there will be others!
