D.I.Y sheath

I'm considering making my own sheath for a knife i have (so that it will incorporate a firesteel)

any tips on materials etc ?

3mm veg tanned leather, waxed synthetic sinue, sharpe blade, two needles, and draw the pattern out on cardbord before hand,

infact heres a cool tutorial, you could add your ferro rod loop into your design to replace a bit of the welt,

The tutorial looks good, (I notice i'l finally get to use the plastic clamps i bought years ago)

Are there places to get this stuff from other than the net?

peeps use le prevo a lot, though you can pick up lots of it on ebay especially smaller sizes of leather,

Its only 20 min drive away from where I live... And the staff are spot on.

I notice there is no wet forming - Is this good or bad. I am just about plucking up enough courage to make new sheath for Mora.

This way seems easier but does it give you a click fit? whats to stop the knife coming out?
