On fully convexed blades of under 4" I'd say that you were almsot certainly going to end up with a mirror finished blade whatever you started with. That is if the thing is sharpened correctly
By sharpening over the entire convex grind and then stropping the blade well enough to get a shaving sharp edge you would end up polishing the whole of the blade with the strop.
With larger convexed blades I can see that you might only end up stropping the half of the blade nearer to the cutting edge, but with a small blade you almost could not help but polish the whole thing, surely ?
