Hesitate to post this because I thought it was obvious but came across a few people recently who didn't know about it so here goes.

When stopping to make a brew, powdered milk/whitener is always disappointing. I carry a small plastic squirty tube of condensed milk (Tescos less than a quid) - bit sweet but much nicer. Tube seems to last for ages past the use by date. Years ago these used to be in all ration packs.

The condensed milk in a tube (as opposed to in a tin) was a WW2 idea, developed for use as part of an escape ration to be used by SOE & downed RAF aircrews.

LOTS of similar ideas that are still in use today were developed by ONE MAN who did all sorts of R&D under the auspices of the Ministry of Supply

His book on his war-time service is fascinating reading

Straight onto brown bread for the ultimate sarnie!

lol. that sounds like i have to try it at least once. :D

I try to use UHT sachets (especially from Sainsbury's cafes) but the condensed milk in a tube sounds good for coffee.

I just used up a pile of stuff at the weekend and need to restock. :)

Rob
