I've tried to sort this myself but to no avail so wondering if any clever IT types here can assist me.

Recently my PC ( purchased just over a year ago ) is starting to do something weird relating to sound.

If i set a YT vid to play it will start at relative normal volume and then without adjusting diminish to near silence.
It will then very intermittently play small squeaks of sound in the background - its very annoying.

Oddly it plays fine if i use Headphones and the Jack point.

Ideas please. Thanks.

Can only be the speakers at fault? If it plays fine using the same output jack and headphones/other speakers that is.

Not sure - the fault seems intermittent to an extent.

And just checked - Sound comes out at proper volume for 3-10 secs then goes away.

Frustrating.

Possibly the speakers but I suspect it's the speaker amplifier circuit closing down when it gets hot (i.e. driven) - I assume it does the same no matter what type of sound you're putting through it such as playing an MP3 track? Otherwise it's not the drive circuit.
The cheapest solution is probably just to plug in a small amplified speaker.
