Common Puffballs: have I struck gold, or just picked a bunch of toxic fungi?

Look perfectly fine to me too, although I don't find them worth the effort. Like soggy polystyrene and a lot of effort for not much, but glad you enjoyed.

I never bother peeling these. Definitely not worth the effort. People are divided on their opinion of the taste. I found some today with some customers and we had a tasting session afterwards...they weren't all that impressed, but they were comparing them with some very tasty other mushrooms.

I quite like them though.
