Coleman Lantern whistling

Hi, new poster here looking for a bit of help.

I have just purchased a Coleman Lantern model 288 for fishing trips. I used it for the first time last night and whilst it works ok, it emits a noise when turned up high which sounds like a whistle, this noise gets lower and disappears if you turn the lantern down.

The lantern keeps pressure and the mantles look fine. Does anyone have an idea why the lantern may be making this noise?

Also, I would like to avoid running my lantern and stove on unleaded fuel and having read a few threads on here, I see that Aspen 4T and panel wipe are both recommended as a less expensive alternative to coleman fuel.

Which one of these products is most preferable to use, as I have a stockist of Aspen 4T close by, but I am sure I could get Panel Wipe if it is considered better.

Many thank in advance for your help.
