went to eastbourne today and had a little walk and forage up to beachy head. i tried limpits for the first time but didnt realy like them tbh, maby they would be nicer cooked in a stew? i also tried sea kale which i was expecting it to be a bit bland but the young leaves were quite nice:) i also dug up the roots of a small plant but i think it was too small as it didnt taste very starchy. i also got a nice lump of iron pyrite. i couldnt beleve how much there was, i thought it was something you realy had to hunt for but it was everywhere. over all a good day but i realy should have put on suncream:eek:

please excuse my camera phone

Looks like you had the place to yourself Pete ?

I don't mind limpets but they taste better in wine and garlic ;)

do you think they mite have tasted better if i had boiled them in fresh water instead of sea water? i thought i better save all i had as it was a hot day.

I've cooked them on a rock in the embers and bolied in wine but never water. They do tatse like the sea but the garlic and wine helps.
