Cloutin'

Regardless of rain, went out with my good friend (pictured below) to clout some sods, and see what my new bow was actually capable of. Feels nice and clean on draw, and sweet when she shoots. The bodkin piles I fixed to the arrows just add that finishing touch, and stood up well to the cloutin'...

And I now have access to two well seasoned yew staves...it just gets better

I did a double take after reading "Clout" but seeing the photo of a near "Target" stance. I thought you were going for some extreem range.

Thanks Ogri...there's a couple of reasons for the shooting position. 1. I wanted a side on view to see how the tiller worked out, and 2. the ground drops steeply out of the picture to the right across a stream, and on the far bank (about 35 yds) is what the archer in the picture is sighting...!!! Can't say anymore than that

Strictly speaking we were Roving, as clouting is the use of a small white target with a black centre (a clout), which unlike our targets, are motionless...But i just like the term; it has a certain finality
