Rinse in water, wipe it of on Your trousers, put it in Your sheat.
Never used any oil or other Things to prevent rust.
If I get a spot of rust I use sand or steel wool to remove it.

I never use my carbon knives to gut salt water Fish though. I use stainless steel knives for that.

To remove any rust use white viniger removed most of my rust on a 1984 bmx I`m restoring then polish with scrunched silver foil and coke

Soapy water and some cooking oil, mate.

Anything else is just obsessive and anal.
