Got any old (or new) Christmas traditions that come out for the festive period?

She's been making some nice Christmas garlands over the fireplace these last few years. Nice to come home to after a cold day's work.

Got ol' Joanna sitting in the corner too, like to give 'er a tickle and see if she gives up a Christmas tune.

My wife and I go shopping for stocking fillers every year in the same shop at the same time, and our objective is to get around the shop without being seen by the other. When we were in the US for the first year we did this, it resulted in me going down into a low squat to hide behind some shelving whilst talking to a rather bemused looking shop assistant, as I'd spotted my wife (fiancee at that point) coming out from another aisle.

I always get my wife a vintage "Rupert" annual .... at 76 she is now definitely in her second childhood!....
And a beret...
And a frog of some sort (fabric, ceramic, plaster etc)...
And a dark chocolate Terry's Choc orange...
All are getting harder to find!

Have a little (6" tall) jellycat santa bought in Selfrigdes 20 years ago.

Each year attach it to my the back of daysack, it's quite amusing when walking around town, and hear parents pointing it out to their kids, or store staff doing the same.

Christmas is a big deal for us.
We always go to Keswick for the first week of December.
It’s partly to celebrate our wedding anniversary but it also kicks off Christmas and lets us shop for something other than the chain store stock.
We stay in an apartment on the banks of the Greta.

We do our Christmas shopping.
Go to the Theatre on the lake. Jungle Book. Only saw the first act. A monkey fell through a faulty stage trap door. Not hurt I’m told but the stage was assessed as unsafe. They do a great show there.
Go to the cinema - dunno what all the fuss is about “Wicked”. There isn’t nearly enough Story for the time it takes. Very clumsy theme about discrimination.
Anyway. Belly pork and Christmas pud in the Bank Tavern puts everything right.
Edited to add:
And a couple of pints of Wainwrights.

The 25th is a family feast, anywhere between 14 and 20 of us depending on who is going to in-laws that year.

Panto during twixtmas. Oh yes I do!!!

Untangling strings of lights!!!
A genuine test of patience that in the years before my beard, I failed annually. The solution is the same as for guylines - you have to KNOW that they are not tangled, merely looped and keep the faith!

Years ago I always used to go hunting every xmas day with my Harris Hawk. Just made me quite sad in a nostalgic, passing of time way..
