Hi all
Does anyone know, and can recommend, fairly decent B&B around Bodmin?
My wife wants a (non-bushy) holiday (our first in 29 years!) and fancies a bit of walking on Bodmin Moor (sightings of the fabled Beast should be ignored for the duration of our visit).
Those who know me will guess that I want top quality for minimum cost .....
Also - what is there to visit (other than Eden) when it rains (fair weather walker:rolleyes: ).
Our interests include prehistory, History, art - not much into shopping or pure touristy carp...
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

I know of two farms in and around the area, they are South Penquite farm and Penquite farm.
South Penquite I think is mainly a camping ground with a VW camper that can be hired or Penquite farm which has cottages over the river Fowey (pronounced Foye) dont know about prices but both are on the web.

Not connected to either place in any way.

Andy.

Would offer to take you in myself but this place is a tip at the moment.

Cheers guys
Launceston sounds interesting, please do send details.
The cottages sound good for another time, but on this trip SWMBO insists that there is no cooking , cleaning or other trace of work - so self catering is out!
This is our idea of a luxury holiday!
Me - I would be packing my tarp .......

There is loads to see in Bodmin, the goal, the steam railway, DCLI museum and the court house.
Also as Rhoda mentioned Lanhydrock House.
On the moors there are prehistoric settlements and the hurlers at Minions.
Also there's the Beast.

Thanks everyone - my holiday is now booked and all I need now is a bit of dry weather.
Thanks for all your help.
If you see me around say hi and we can have a chat/drink/moan about the weather!

Johny don't surf......too old and fat.....
My wife would not apreciate me being bushy on this holiday....Eden, Heligan, Lanhydrock, museums and walking the moor is what she wants - and what Lis wants - Lis gets!

Shhhhhhhh!
I dislike most of the stuff the Tatt galeries hold.
I like preraphaelite, Arts and Crafts, early Constable and Beardsley...
