I don't know if this is an established thing that I've not found, but I devised this as a way of storing rope on my truck.

The truck has a round section handrail that acts as a handle for moving the back seats out and as a tie down point for the front of a tarp (for the purpose of load covering rather than our usual use of a tarp on here!).

I usually tie the end with a clove hitch as it sits neater than using round-turn-and-two-half-hitches. That would work fine in a situation where you want the security for tying down a load or such like, just wouldn't be as neat during storage.

As with the Chain sennit, form a bight then pull a bight through the first and repeat the process until you run out of rope, then pass the end through the last bight and tighten up. However each bight passes round the back of the post, in alternating direction. The whole lot releases in the same way as the chain sennit.

Hopefully that all makes sense! Any ideas what I should call it?
