We sold our camper so we're back to the camping scene. It'll be car camping right now, two or three nights from tomorrow night. The dilemma is the boy has grown up to 12.5 years, with the dog and small car we have right now we're not going to be able to use a proper car camping tent. So which tent to use? First world issue, we have so many tents I can't decide what to use or what combination to use.
So out of the following, what would work best for two adults (one is 196cm tall and 95kg too), one 12yo and a border terrier?
An UL Scandi extended porch 4 season tunnel tent big enough for three but realistically me and one other. It is a lofoten 3 pro model but can't remember the brand. Helsport, Nordisk or similar. Good brand a little cheaper than hilleberg.
Vango spectre 200 - old 2 man 3 pole tunnel tent 3 season but solid tent for two people, even with me in there.
Vango F10 helium ul 1 man - small for even one man.
Vango beta 350 a good sized 3 man tunnel tent for 3 adults if a little tight for my 196cm.
I know the 5 man steel pole car camping tent is easy too big.
We have another tunnel tent that's 30 years old and my old trekking pole single skin Vango f10 vitesse.
I'm thinking a mix of two and one person in two tents. Just not sure which combination is best.
This is our first car camp in tents since 2020 and the last camp we had a bigger car and used the 5 man or cycle toured with the Scandi tunnel tent.
You might notice we seem to like Vango. Had very bad experience with wild country.
So which tents do you think might work better?
Sorry if this is an indulgent post, definitely an issue for a gear freak / collector / first world dilemma.
