I haven't attached an image before so fingers crossed.

Some friends sent me this image. It was found on a beach in Devon. Can anyone say what it is. They said it appears alive and moves. I don't know if that is correct any help would be appreciated. It is annoying me because I have come across it before but can't remember. Thanks

Looks like a Mermaids Purse, or more precisely a shark egg like a dog fish, many sharks attach eggs with a live embryo onto seeweeds, the young shark develops inside this pocket before hatching, the purses come in all different shapes and sizes

Wow dude! Seriously? You learn something new every day...
Brilliant!
Hope the OP's friend threw the thing back to the sea...

Looks like the kinda thing they'd treat as a delicacy in the far east.

Wonder what they taste like?

Barnacles are a delicacy and indeed delicious.
Ive only tried the Portuguese recipe but they were so moorish...
A garlic, parsley and butter brush before putting them in the pot .
Wash them down with a stupidly cold superbock and you're all set.
Good times
