Been for a walk whilst visiting Northumberland, and came across this stuff, can anyone confirm 100% if this is Chaga please?
Regards
Bill

Yes, it is 100% Chaga mycelium for sure!

Said to a cure for many problems, but even if it is worthless it will not kill you.
Going to make tea will you?

Just make sure it lives on a still living Birch, on a dead one it can be contaminated with other funguses.

Thanks Janne, it was on a dead birch tbh, does this mean it useless? Not to be used?
Thx for your reply

So , if chaga is on a living tree has medicinal value but if harvested from a dead tree it maybe just tinder ?

Same Chaga, but it can be "infused" by other fungus species that thrive on dead wood.
They can be harmless, or harmful.
Not worth the risk go and find another one, on a living tree. Thy are somewhere in the area.
