Camping at Balmaha

I'm doing a walk on Sunday from Balmaha to Rowardenna and looking to camp out on Sat night somewhere around Balmaha. What I'm trying to find out is where to go...is there somewhere near by I can camp wild and get a fire lit? I'm not really wanting to go to a camp site.

I've looked on maps and google earth and there seems plenty places to go but not sure if you can. Would be handy if the car could be near by but not essential. I'd really appreciate it if someone who frequents the area could help.

not been there for a long while but I seem to remember we used to launch from the beachy bit just short of milarrochy, there's a big bit of woodland south of there. There was a decent bit of car parking.

2 things I'd check, can I park there overnight and is that bit of woodland part of the QE forest park (no fires)

Along the shoreline there is plenty of beaches. Keep the midges back and light the fire on the beach. The further you walk form the road the quieter/more ned free you will be.
