I am going tomorrow to buy one of the Karrimor offside 65l bags from soccer sports because of there 70% off sales. Basically I have a few queries. I have no doubt that this will be a good bag to get because alot of people say they swear by there jaguars, and this seems to be a later bag, therefore maybe better(?).

I also would like to know whether it is worth buying a Karrimor Vault 20l
Can bags like this be attached together using the lashings available?

Would it be a good idea to get both just in case, would it be strong enough to hold both?
It would cost (£27 for 65l and £11 for 20l because they have 70% off)

actually i've found that the older bags were better quality than the newer ones.
however, back to the point in hand. you probably could rig the two bags together with a little trial and error, but 65l should be big enough for a trip. i'd get both anyway as they are a good price. £38 for a rucksack and a daysack is a good buy.

Is there ever any use for a day pack when you are out on a bushcraft trip?
Is there a point when you need to leave to big bag behind and use a smaller day sack to collect stuff in bushcraft?

Sure - if you are staying in a fixed camp for a few days, but want to go on day walks or short foraging expeditions, it's a real pain to have to use your main bag as a daysack. One: it's too big, awkward and heavy, and two: you have to take all of your other kit out of it first. Even if you're just out getting some firewood 5 minutes from camp, I think you should carry water, first aid kit, and some basic emergency kit - after all, it's times like that when you're most likely to injure yourself.

I'm currently toying with a PLCE-style rig, but I haven't used it in anger yet. The idea is to use webbing for the minimum kit for a foraging trip (waterbottle, first aid, emergency kit, knife and saw), the PLCE daysack for day walks with more equipment (spare clothing, extra food, etc) and the Sabre 45 for the rest of the gear. Just how practical this will be remains to be seen, but I like the idea.
