After reading a few threads this morning I got sick of staring at a computer screen and went outside for my lunch (the joys of working at home and having a large garden ).
Inspired by a couple of posts in the lengthy "list to learn" thread about cooking bannock, I decided to try a different way of cooking it. Normally I cook my bannock in a frying pan on a fire or the saucepan on my Trangia but in both cases I always struggle a bit to get it out when it's cooked. In the thread they discuss cooking bannock on the lid on a pan with the pan over the top of it and placing it in the embers of a fire. I didn't have time to build a fire, but I tried the same inverse technique over a gas stove and it worked great! Much easier.
Whilst waiting for it to cook I started a brew going on another stove and set up my mini hammock for the first time. Lay back and listened to the leaves falling (and the occasional car), then sat down and shared the bannock with my dog (he didn't get much mind!).
Lovely way to relax.
Next time I'll make sure I've got enough time to get a fire going.
