What does your army wear ? and can you get surplus cheaply ?

I know quite a few folks who buy ex-army ones here and find them both comfortable, fit for purpose, long lasting and usually at a very reasonable price.

Lots of really good boots out there, but sometimes the cost is a fashion thing, not just fit and finish, iimmc ?

Army surplus is not for sale if someone personally wont sell it , I have special forces boots which I love and have been wearing for about 4-5 years , but it was a gift from my fathers friend and now I have to buy it , it is still good but I'm looking for one for future or just to have two pairs

It's an unusual situation when you can't buy army surplus, of virtually any kit, really. Sometimes takes a bit of searching, but it's astonishing just how much of it there is available.
Have you had a look on ebay to see if someone is selling those boots you like ?
Just an idea.

If it's just for the woods I love wearing hi-top leather moccasins. That would certainly be traditional looking.

For everything else I just use light weight modern hikers. I couldn't recommend one brand over another, since I don;t have a great selection to buy from over here. Just look for gortex or the equivalent and try them on in a real shop, don't buy online.

Hi top moccasins traditional looking? The AmerIndians wore low moccasins. the Same wore Beak boots.
Moccasins were not worn in Georgia!

GC, Can you have boots made to your size? Those would be the best option. I am sure you still have traditional boot makers in Georgia?

Traditional is not region specific and several tribes wore hi top moccassins. Furthermore, the OP could be in Georgia the Country, or Georgia the US state.
You can't use 'American Indians' as an all encompassing term to dictate what native peoples wore.
There were many different styles of dress and footwear among American tribes. Hi tops were more predominant among native women in many parts, but Native American men wore them too. Since I don't know the OP's gender, they might be more or less attracted to this style based on personal preference. They were practical and thus worn by both genders in areas where there were thorns and critters that could bite your lower legs.

OP is a man. A young healthy male. Lives in Georgia east of the Black Sea. Southern parts of Kaucasus.
I am not sure if it is classed to be in Europe or Asia.

I assumed that when he wrote he wanted an traditional foot covering, that he wanted something from that area. He needs to clarify.

I do not have a clue what the different tripes of AmerIndians wore, all I know is what I have seen them wearing in Hollywood cowboy movies and the German Winnetou movies. Sorry about generalizing!

The Same boots are nice and comfortable.

My most practical and comfortable boots are a second hand pair of Brasher Hillmaster GTX, mine are the original version, I understand the more recent ones (like everything else) are not as good. The great thing about second hand boots is that someone else has gone through the trouble of breaking them in for you. There is another thing that is important to me at least and that is the ability for the boots to be resoled by the average cobbler, all too many boots these days seem to be of the wear out and throw away variety.

I have been using a pair of US crafter RedWing Setter boots since 1979. resoled twice.
unfortunately they are too heavy for my knees, so I will get a pair of light Salomons.

These are very good for the money. I have a pair of Lundhags mid pro. But when I bought these a a gift for my brother I secretly hoped they wouldnt fit him, so I could keep them for myself. Great boots, should last years.

There are two negatives with Lundhags. One is that the waterprrof plastic shrinks in heat ( like drying too close to a fire) and the soles can be a pain to replace, you need a shoe guy that knows what he is doibg.

I had a pair in 1979 I shrank, after that I bought the RedWings.

Lundhags also make more trad boots, one leather layer boots that look fantastic though!

Those ones there are made by Mean and Green who the website belongs too, apparently replicas of the Nam jungle boot of 1968, they have mostly positive reviews i was tempted myself but thankfully i just managed to stop myself when i could not justify without soem major lying to myself about where or when i would use them instead of the boots i currently use, sometimes i don't get that sanity until after purchase :D i must be on good form today
