a spoon an kuksa i carved out of burl
the spoon is made of black cherry burl
and the kuksa from elm burl

thanks everybody for the complements

I have a Elm burr at home and fancied doing this. It was in two lobes but they are still a decent size but the wood is *really* hard (and darker)...was your Elm burr green wood?

yes i always work with greenwood its easier to carve, but a burl is always tricky to work with because of the grain going in every direction
i am curious how your burl will carve, its probably a lot harder if you had it for a while
