There are over a million empty homes in the UK. The official population figures of 65 million, are very probably understated by 5 to 10 million. We do need more houses, but the main problem is that the average house price tripled between 1997 - 2007, whilst the median UK wage rose by a piddling £6.5k, instead of allowing houses to return to their long term affordability against income, which was circa 3-3.5x individual salary, they bailed out the banks keeping prices vastly overinflated. Which allows bankers to declare fake profits, on the mark to market value of the properties on their books, and pay themsleves fake inflated bonuses.
Again, the fiat monetary system is at the root of the problem. 70% of land in the UK is owned by less than 1% of the population. THATS what needs to be changed. These banks and property companies own vast tracts of land banks, which they cannot afford to build on. Cause no-one can afford to buy them. So theyre just left sitting idle.
The Land Registry doesnt know who owns up to 50% of the land, because they have been told not to ask. 'Beneficial ownership' laws mean our 'lords and masters' can buy and sell land without informing the inland revenue.....hilarious really. They leak that land onto the urban housing market, in bits and bobs, in cahoots with the banks, keeping land prices high.
Means the taxman loses literally billions in lost revenue.
In fact what happens, is the richest landowners dont pay land tax, they are funded by the poorest taxpayers, and the EU, who give them billions in grants each year.
Rather than do somethig about all that, which there is no political will to, they come up with a plan to build in national parks.

In the end, this is happening, so a few hundred very rich people, can become even richer. Thats how this country is really set up.

If you look at the Daily Mail, where this article is posted, you'll see the group has vested interests in this also, they own prime location.com, paid about £50 million for it, if I remember. The Mail group itself will be owned by some lord of other, who owns half of a county.......seriously.

I've come to the conclusion the only way out, is to get out of the country,.
