Well two hours later and im chuffed to bits with it.
Tools used were,
Laplander saw, SFA and my Dorset woodland blades DSP.
The holes were done with a 50yr old hand drill.

Still requires a bit of sanding to finish but cuts a dream
Problem is the blades i had bought for the job were 21"but i did all my measuring with
the one from my 24"bowsaw.
All in cost me £6 for the timber.

Cheers for that.
I would love to try and do one with decent machine tools but dont know anyone in the area who will let me use them.

TBH it was a play about to see how it turned out more than anything.
I might give it a coat of sealer but next is to try and get some nice hardwood and make another
but to fit my 21"blades and make it much neater.

This site is costing me all my spare time. Whenever I see something like this I can't resist to try it! Very neat saw.

It certainly worked a treat processing the wood pile, thanks for bringing it John. It was a pleasure to use...

Thanks for the comments on the saw. Im thinking about making some of these in hardwood and would like to know who might be interested in one and what would be a reasonable price to sell them for.

That's a great job, the first thing that comes to mind is those trips where you have to pay to get your gear flown in and want to save weight coming out, all you'd have to bring back is the blade to avoid littering.

regarding the blade cutting at an angle, sometimes it's the set or the sharpening of the teeth that causes that, also if you don't try to force it throught the material you're cutting.
