I have just recently dropped and broke in half my 6000 grit Japanese waterstone, as soon as it happened I went into a rage :aargh4: I couldn’t believe what I done, it goes to show the slightest lapse of concentration anything can go wrong LOL. Is there anyway that it can be repaired or do I have to purchase a new one.

Who knows
well you could cut the broken one to size and use it as a small field stone ?

I think I'd just say I'd now got 2 half sized waterstones.

A good resin glue might work but there are not many that will take regular soaking.

You could give this a go:

For good water resistance there's this:

If you are using extraphen, cover up anything that is not to be glued, including your skin. I'm still waiting for some stains to grow out of my finger nails. It's very sticky stuff.

In any case I'd build a close wooden case around the stone (like a benchstone) to reduce the risk that it all falls a part under stress.

yeh i think thats a great idea mate, i would have never thought of doing that. I was too wrapped up in trying to repair the stone, when i could get two uses out of one stone. Cheers for that mate :)

Jamie, is it a combination stone, or just a 6000? I can't quite remember what stones you've got, but if it is a combination, I'll swap you half for my unbroken combination stone. Give me a bell.
